The purchase

I bought my RS2 in 2014 from a friend of mine whom had acquired it a few years earlier from some used car lot and driven it only occasionally.

The car was running OK and it was in fair overall condition, however there was a lot of wear and tear on bodywork and underside and the engine bay was a mess, so I decided to restore my Audi RS2 to as close to factory condition as reasonably possible.

I also did not like some tuning elements that had ruined the car's originality, those had to be removed.

Back then, RS2 hadn't become as exclusive and expensive classic as it is now. I was hoping to fix it up and use everyday along with my RS5.

So the journey began...

The restoration

The restoration took 2+ years and cost me 3 times as much as I had anticipated.

Due to scarcity of parts, it was a long and painstaking journey, nothing like they show on those car-restoration TV shows. The parts are really hard to find and when you find them they are really expensive.

There were even some parts that we had to create from scratch as they were either not available or the available used parts all were in poor condition.

During the restoration, following elements were restored or overhauled:

  • engine and turbo,
  • suspension,
  • body,
  • brakes,
  • wheels
  • interior (partially)

More about restoration

After restoration

After years of work and tens of thousands of EUR invested I have a very nice, original and clean copy of the legendary Audi RS2. But the world has changed and RS2 had become an exclusive rarity.

Unfortunately the car is too rare and has become too expensive for daily use. If I damage it, the repair would be expensive and very difficult due to scarse parts, this is why I have decided to find her a new home and get myself a youngtimer that I could use every day with less worries.
